Rac2DG19808 mutant males appear thinner than equally-aged controls. Their abdomens, in particular, appear thinner than in controls.

Heterozygous Rac2DG19808 mutant males exhibit a wild-type survival rate. Heterozygous Rac2DG19808 mutant females exhibit a significantly longer median survival time (113 hours) than controls, while Rac2DG19808 homozygous females exhibit a median survival time of only 55 hours (compared to 71 hours in controls).

Rac2DG19808 homozygous males and females exhibit a reduction in total lipid content, compared to controls.

Rac2DG19808 homozygous males do not consume a significantly different amount of food compared to controls, however, they do have significantly fewer feeding bouts, but consume considerably larger meals.

Rac2DG19808 mutant males exhibit changes in activity. When single Rac2DG19808 mutants are assessed for time walking, there is no difference to controls. However, the introduction of a wild-type male or virgin female results in the Rac2DG19808 males becoming significantly more active than control males.

Rac2DG19808 homozygous males perform significantly more wing flicks over a 20 minute fighting bout than controls or heterozygous males. On the other hand, Rac2DG19808 homozygous males perform significantly fewer leg shoves than controls.

Rac2DG19808 homozygous and heterozygous males perform significantly more singing behaviours and circling manoeuvres than controls, and unlike controls they perform abdomen bends towards other males. In terms of individual courtship behaviour, Rac2DG19808 mutants display all the behaviours males would normally present towards virgin females, including, singing, circling, tapping of the abdomen, licking the genitalia and bending their abdomen.

While Rac2DG19808 mutant males perform significantly more courtship behaviours than controls, they are not any less aggressive. However, the courting, or following, male never initiates aggressive interactions.

Rac2DG19808 homozygous and heterozygous males paired with control virgin females display no significant difference in either latency or courtship behaviour compared to control males. However, Rac2DG19808 homozygotes paired with recently mated (within the last hour) females spend significantly more time courting the mated females than control males.
