desat2D flies have a 16bp deletion in exon 1.
No significant differences in the proportion of males that orientate to females and in the percentage that copulate are found in desat2D homozygous or heterozygous populations compared to wild-type, whereas courtship latency and duration are affected. The shortest period of courtship latency is found in pairs in which the females are desat2D and the males wild-type. A significant reduction of courtship duration is found in desat2D homozygous pairs.
