Description

UASp regulatory sequences drive expression of the entire osk open reading frame, which is joined to a modified bcd 3'UTR (the putative NRE sequence, a 45bp HpaI-EcoRV fragment has been replaced by a 10bp SpeI linker).

Expression of oskbcd.3'UTR.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 induces long F-actin projections at the anterior end of the stage 10b oocyte.

53% of embryos expressing oskbcd.3'UTR.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 form germ cells in the anterior of the embryo.

Oocytes expressing oskbcd.3'UTR.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 show ectopic incorporation of FM4-64 dye at the anterior of the oocyte. These oocytes have long F-actin projections emanating from cortical actin bundles at the oocyte anterior.
