UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of Inx5KK103391 under the control of Scer\GAL417d, or the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R14C08 and Hsap\RELAAD.R12C11, but not the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R89B01 and Hsap\RELAAD.R13F02, prevents the significant visual short term memory seen in controls following training with pain stimulus in adult flies; no memory defect is seen using Scer\GAL417d when expression is restricted to a smaller subset of cells using Scer\GAL80Mef2.mb247.
Expression of Inx5KK103391 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.247, or the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R41C07 and Hsap\RELAAD.R13F02, significantly impairs visual short term memory following training with pain stimulus in adult flies, compared to controls; this effect is also seen when Inx5KK103391 is expressed during the adult stage only, under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.247.Switch (induced by RU486 application for three days prior to the experiment).
Expression of Inx5KK103391 under the control of Scer\GAL4tj.PU (along with expression of UAS-Dcr2 to increase RNAi efficiency) does not cause sterility.
