Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion has resulted in a 3.2kb deletion that includes exon 1 and most of exon 2. The deleted sequence is all specific to isoform S97.

dlg1S97-138 flies have normal climbing ability and show a normal response in an olfactory avoidance assay (tested with benzaldehyde).
Adult dlg1S97-138 flies have severe defects in phototaxis: scores in phototaxis assays are similar to those seen in flies lacking normal phototransduction.
Under alternating light/dark (12 hours) conditions, circadian patterns of locomotor activity in dlg1S97-138 homozygous adults are only slightly abnormal. However, when flies are moved to permanent dark conditions circadian patterns of locomotor activity are gradually lost.
There is a significant increase in the length of each pre-synaptic density at larval neuromuscular junctions in dlg1S97-138 homozygotes compared to wild-type.
dlg1S97-138 is partially rescued by Scer\GAL4elav-C155/dlg1UAS.EGFP
