Expression of Mob2dsRNA.Scer\UAS.IR1 using Scer\GAL4GMR.PF causes the normally regular array of ommatidia to disappear; a cavernous structure often appears in the centre of ommatidia and bristles project randomly on the eye. Internally: the array of photoreceptors is not trapezoid, the shape and size of rhabdomeres is irregular, some rhabdomeres are missing, some rhabdomeres are widely expanded.
At 35% and 50% pupal development (PD) of Mob2dsRNA.Scer\UAS.IR1, Scer\GAL4GMR.PF eyes, the array of photoreceptor cells is irregular and pigment cells are increased in number and appear in multiple layers. By 75% PD, the array of photoreceptor cells and the shape of rhabdomeres is irregular, and the space between the ommatidia is also irregular.
