Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion has resulted in a 4562bp deletion that removes the entire AdoR open reading frame without affecting any adjacent genes.
Homozygous females do not show a significant change in baseline daytime or nighttime sleep under light/dark conditions compared to controls. Baseline sleep is also normal in AdoRKG03964ex/Df(3R)Exel6214 females.
Homozygous females flies show a significantly increased number of nighttime sleep bouts and a significant reduction in nighttime sleep bout duration compared to controls. Waking activity is not consistently altered in mutants compared to controls.
Homozygous and AdoRKG03964ex/Df(3R)Exel6214 females have similar amounts of sleep rebound following mechanical sleep deprivation compared to controls. The reduction in sleep latency following sleep deprivation is not altered in mutant flies.
The affect of caffeine on sleep amount, sleep bout number and sleep bout duration in mutant animals is similar to its effects on controls. The circadian period of mutant flies after caffeine treatment is lengthened to a similar degree as in control flies.
