Neuromuscular junction (NMJ) size and the number of active zones/NMJ are significantly reduced compared to wild type in embryos expressing Nrx-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu, while active zone density within the NMJ and active zone size are unaffected.
The amplitude of the evoked excitatory junction current (EJC) at the NMJ is reduced compared to wild type, in embryos expressing Nrx-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu, while the frequency of spontaneous EJCs is unaffected. There is no change in the amplitude of glutamate-gated currents at the NMJ in embryos expressing Nrx-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu.
Expression of Nrx-1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B has no effect on NMJ morphology or electrophysiological properties.
