      Mutants show light dependent retinal degeneration.

      Homozygotes and trpidl-B-1/trp9 animals show a transient electroretinogram response at a high light intensity of 453 lux. At a low light intensity of 6.39lux, homozygous flies have an electroretinogram that is more similar to wild type.
