      Eyes composed largely of homozygous ocmP1198Z tissue are severely reduced in size compared to wild type.

      ocmP1198Z/Df(2R)BSC155 animals do not develop past the second instar stage. The mutant larvae are lethargic but continue to move for several days before dying with grossly normal morphology.

      ocmP1198Z increases eye pigmentation in males homozygous for the P{GMroX1}75C insertion, but has no effect on the eye pigmentation in females homozygous for this insertion.
