UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of slfNIG.3244R under the control of Scer\GAL4da.PU and Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C results in ready-to-hatch larvae that are contracted and separated from the egg case by liquid, unlike controls; the head skeleton is unaffected and tracheae are air-filled, similar to controls; expression under the control of Scer\GAL4knk.int1 results in shorter, fatter shaped third instar larvae, relative to controls, with melanized injuries on their surface; escaper adults expressing slfNIG.3244R under the control of Scer\GAL4knk.int1 have necrosis of soft cuticle regions, such as the ptilinum, lateral parts of the abdomen, leg joints and the wing hinge, unlike controls, with no effect on hard cuticle.
Flies expressing Clect27NIG.3244R under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 have wings with a wrinkled morphology and lack the anterior crossvein.
