Insertion of a "submariner" element in the fourth exon, with a TA target site duplication at the insertion site. The submariner element is not identical to a canonical mariner element, having an incomplete tandem duplication of the 5' inverted terminal repeat.

      Mutants have bleached white eyes.

      Unstable mutation 79.9% of flies have mosaic colour patterns in their eyes. Spontaneous revertants and partial revertants are recovered at a frequency of 0.6%.
