Expression of Hsap\ARQ72.K720A.Scer\UAS in the salivary gland under the control of Scer\GAL4fkh.PH suppresses the phenotype normally seen upon expression of polyglutamine-expanded Hsap\AR molecules with dihydrotestosterone.
Expression of Hsap\ARQ72.K720A.Scer\UAS in the developing eye under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF in the presence of dihydrotestosterone does not result in a degenerative eye phenotype.
Expression of Hsap\ARQ72.K720A.Scer\UAS in all neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 in the presence of dihydrotestosterone results in increased viability compared to expression of Hsap\ARQ52.Scer\UAS, as evidenced by more flies surviving to the pupal stage. Expression in the motorneurons under the control of Scer\GAL4D42 also significantly suppresses the larval crawling defect compared to Hsap\ARQ52.Scer\UAS flies. In addition, expression in the neuromuscular junction under the control of Scer\GAL4VGlut-OK371 results in a significantly increased number of synaptic boutons, compared to Hsap\ARQ52.Scer\UAS flies.
