Description

An Hsp70 promoter is followed by sequence derived from the incomplete TP5 telomeric P-element. The native promoter of the P-element is present as well as the Hsp70 promoter. The P\T protein produced is truncated, due to a deletion in the coding region (which also results in a frameshift).

      P\TTP5.hs has no ability to repress gonadal dysgenesis induced in crosses between M-cytotype females carrying P\TTP5.hs and P males.

      The level of mutability of snw in the presence of P\TΔ2-3 is significantly reduced by the presence of P\TTP5.hs (although P\TTP5.hs is less effective than P\TKP.hs at reducing mutability).
