Homozygous males show an increase in the total amount of cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control males. They show a significant decrease in the relative proportion of desaturated cuticular hydrocarbons and a significant increase in the relative proportion of linear cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control males.
Males expressing desat1EpE under the control of Scer\GAL4desat1-1573-1 in a desat11573-1/+ background show an increase in the total amount of cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control males. The mutant males show a significant decrease in the relative proportion of desaturated cuticular hydrocarbons and a significant increase in the relative proportions of both linear and methyl branched cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control males.
Males expressing desat1EpE under the control of Scer\GAL4desat1-1573-C'1 in a desat11573-C'1/+ background show an increase in the total amount of cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control males. The mutant males show a significant decrease in the relative proportions of both desaturated and methyl branched cuticular hydrocarbons and a significant increase in the relative proportion of linear cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control males.
The total amount of cuticular hydrocarbons is the same in homozygous and control females. The mutant females show a significant decrease in the relative proportion of desaturated cuticular hydrocarbons and a significant increase in the relative proportion of linear cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control females.
Females expressing desat1EpE under the control of Scer\GAL4desat1-1573-1 in a desat11573-1/+ background show an increase in the total amount of cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control females. The mutant females show a significant decrease in the relative proportions of methyl branched cuticular hydrocarbons and a significant increase in the relative proportion of linear cuticular hydrocarbons compared to control females.
