del214.30/del24.48 embryos have gonads which demonstrate formation defects at the earlier time points of gonad formation but are able to fully form by later stages of embryogenesis, giving the appearance of a delayed time frame of gonad formation. Somatic gonadal precursor specification appears normal. Visceral mesoderm appears normal. Male-specific somatic gonadal precursor (SGP) cells join the other SGPs but are loosely packed and fail to condense.
