UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Flies with expression of Ets96BHMS00092 driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4GMR36H05 or Scer\GAL4ple.PF have significantly reduced survival time under starvation conditions compared to controls. Flies with expression of Ets96BHMS00092 driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155 only in adulthood (using TubGAL80ts) show significant increases in survival time under starvation conditions compared to controls. Expression of Ets96BHMS00092 driven by Scer\GAL4GMR36H05 throughout development or driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155 only in adulthood (using TubGAL80ts) does not significantly alter feeding behavior in flies fed ad libitum compared to controls.
Triglyceride levels are significantly higher in Scer\GAL4elav-C155>Ets96BHMS00092 flies at 0 (but not 12 or 24) hours starvation compared to controls; triglyceride levels are significantly lower at 0 (but not 12 or 24) hours starvation when Ets96BHMS00092 is only expressed during adulthood (Scer\GAL4elav-C155 with TubGAL80ts) compared to controls.
Flies with expression of Ets96BHMS00092 driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4GMR36H05 have a significantly increased mechanical startle-response, are hyperactive (during the first and second hour of monitoring but not the 3rd or 4th hours), and show significant increases in activity for the first 30 minutes (but not the second 30min after the stimulus) in response to a light (also when driven by Scer\GAL4ple.PF) or sound shock stimulus compared to controls. Flies with expression of Ets96BHMS00092 driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4GMR36H05 are hyperactive (measured in DAMS over 24 hours) and sleep significantly less at night (when driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155) compared to controls; flies with expression only in adulthood (Scer\GAL4elav-C155 and TubGAL80ts) are similar to controls in terms of overall activity and sleep at night.
