UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a synthetic version of Antp which lacks the N-terminal domain. The protein consists of a YPWM motif which has been mutated to WRPW and the homeodomain, followed by a truncated C-terminal domain (lacking the terminal 14 residues). The naturally occurring long linker (8 amino acid residues) is present between the mutated WRPW motif and the homeodomain. A EGFP tag has been fused to the C-terminal end of the protein.
Expression of AntpSynth.WRPW.LL.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4nullo.PG results in head involution defects and repression of the prothoracic beard.
Expression of AntpSynth.WRPW.LL.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Dll.PU results in overgrowth of the third antennal segment.
