UAS drives expression of the 'Ig domain 7 A' isoform of Amel\bsCAM.
Expression of Amel\bsCAMIg7A.Scer\UAS using Scer\GAL4eg-Mz360 disrupts the normal axon guidance of the posterior, but not the anterior, commissure interneurons. The axons never cross the midline and appear to stop extending prematurely. Furthermore, the posterior commissure (PC) interneurons do not form tight clusters and do not orient toward the midline. While control embryos have PC neurons crossing the midline in more than 92% of segments, this is reduced to 28% in Amel\bsCAMIg7A.Scer\UAS, Scer\GAL4eg-Mz360 embryos.
Expression of Amel\bsCAMIg7A.Scer\UAS using Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 induces loss of alpha and alpha' lobes in either the left or right hemisphere mushroom body in 32% of adults examined.
