      Homozygotes show no obvious developmental defects when raised under normal conditions. The pattern of cell proliferation in clones in the eye disc appears normal, and no spontaneous apoptosis is seen in in these clones.

      Homozygous larvae show reduced survival after irradiation compared to wild type.

      Apoptosis following irradiation is detected earlier in homozygous clones in the eye disc (as early as 1 hour after irradiation) than in wild-type discs (apoptosis is first detected 2 hours following irradiation). Four hours after irradiation, the stripe of apoptosis seen anterior to the morphogenetic furrow is broadened in homozygous clones compared to wild type.
