      Lethality occurs before the wandering third larval instar stage in homozygotes.

      Homozygous clones in the third larval instar brain consist of only a few cells. Neuroblasts in the clone appear to be arrested n a metaphase-like state with condensed chromosomes, but no clear metaphase plate.
