        Oogenesis in vret39 females progresses to later stages, but egg chambers are defective with abnormal nurse cell numbers and improper oocyte positioning. Follicle cells often fail to encapsulate egg chambers and occasionally form disorganized multicellular layers.

        vret39 hemizygotes show germline differentiation defects and abnormal somatic morphology.
