Expression of varidsRNA.Scer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 results in either adult flies with defective wings (having gaps in the wing margin and defects in wing unfolding) or pharate adults, depending on the varidsRNA.Scer\UAS.cBa line used.
Expression of varidsRNA.Scer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH results in defects in the eye, including roughening, malformations and a reduction in size. However, the photoreceptor cells do not show major morphogenetic defects and are still organised in a trapezoid pattern as in wild type. In some cases, the eye tissue is replaced by head cuticle. The flies also show a partial or total loss of the ocelli.
