Imprecise excision of P{EPgy2}Atox1EY15780 resulting in a 450 base pair deletion removing the first two of the three exons of Atox1.
A 450 bp deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{EPgy2}Atox1EY15780 which starts at the insertion site and removes the first two exons of Atox1.
Atox1174 mutants are viable and fertile under standard laboratory conditions, although their survival rate during development is reduced. The most obvious phenotype of Atox1174 mutants is that they can not tolerate copper starvation under conditions which pose no problem for wild-type flies.
Compared with wild-type flies, Atox1174 mutants are less sensitive to the toxicity of the anticancer drug cisplatin (cis-diammineplatinum(II) dichloride).
