Flies expressing Pgam5NIG.14816R under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 are sensitive to heat shock stress and die sooner than control flies. Heat shock sensitivity is also seen when Pgam5NIG.14816R is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PU for 4X 30 minutes at 37[o]C prior to heat shock treatment.
Expression of Pgam5NIG.14816R in the fat body (under the control of Scer\GAL4yolk), hemocytes (Scer\GAL4Pxn.PS), eye (Scer\GAL4hs.2sev), bristle (Scer\GAL4sca-P309) or mediodorsal parts of the thoracic and abdominal segments (Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237) has no effect on heat shock sensitivity compared to controls. An increase in sensitivity is seen when Pgam5NIG.14816R is expressed in the mushroom body under the control of either Scer\GAL4c739, Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 or Scer\GAL4Tab2-201Y and expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 also induced the vulnerability of flies to heat shock. No change in sensitivity is seen when Pgam5NIG.14816R is expressed in dopaminergic neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4ple.PF.
