Expression of mir-10Scer\UAS.cLa expressed ubiquitously under the control of either Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU or Scer\GAL4da.G32 results in death during early larval development and minor cuticle phenotypes in the anterior of the early larvae. Larvae typically die during the first instar larval stage and occasionally do not hatch. None survive to adulthood. Larvae have malformations of their anterior cuticle which appear as cuticular breaks near the mouthhooks.
