        EogtΔ7.4/EogtLL00272 transheterozygotes die mostly during second-instar or second/third instar interface, but some survive until early third-instar. These mutant larvae display cuticle defects and irregular tracheal morphology. Ultrastructural analysis of the larval epidermis reveals disruption of the deposition zone of the endocuticle, leading to separation of the epidermis from the chitin layers. The larval body is not compacted and the body size is comparable to that of wild-type larvae.
