Nsf2lotus-312 mutants exhibit tracheal morphogenesis defects. In Nsf2lotus-312 mutant clones the terminal cells are smaller with fewer branches and exhibit a gas-filling gap within the transition zone.

lotus312 mutants display tracheal terminal cells that are pruned and sometimes fragmented (as if degenerating). Other tracheal cells are smaller than in wild-type. The terminal cell seamless-auto-cellular tube connection is defective. The terminal cells are rounded and contribute minimally to the lumen.

lotus312 mutant eye clones in a EGUF/hid eye assay (where forced expression of a cell death gene in the eye imaginal disc eliminates wild-type cells, leaving the adult eyes to develop almost entirely from clones of homozygous mutant cells), form eyes of normal size and shape.
