Adarhyp mutant males exhibit relatively robust locomotor activity, with no obvious uncoordination.
In Adarhyp males, peaks of morning and evening activity are present but reduced in amplitude compared to controls. Anticipation of morning, but not night, is completely abolished.
Adarhyp males exhibit a 4-fold increase in the time taken to initiate courtship relative to controls. Despite this, the overall length of time spent courting does not significantly differ.
Courtship pulse songs from Adarhyp males often exhibit abnormal waveforms characterized by polycyclic pulses and additional peaks. This change in waveform is accompanied by alterations in several other song parameters, including a reduced number of pulses per song train, an increase pulse frequency, and a small but highly significant increase in the inter-pulse interval. There is also a striking variability in the Adarhyp pulse waveforms, even between distinct song trains from the same male.
