      Expression of AlasNIG.3017R (together with UAS-Dicer2 to enhance RNAi efficiency) is partially (with Scer\GAL4phm.PU, severity of the lethal phenotype varies between different insertion lines) or completely (with the Scer\GAL42-286 driver) third larval stage lethal.

      Third instar larvae expressing AlasNIG.3017R under the control of Scer\GAL4phm.PU extend their larval stage to up to 10 days and continue to feed and grow - their ring gland shows no morphological defects beyond hypertrophy in line with their body overgrowth during the prolonged larval stage.
