Third instar larvae expressing AlasNIG.3017R under the control of Scer\GAL4phm.PU extend their larval stage to up to 10 days and continue to feed and grow - their ring gland shows no morphological defects beyond hypertrophy in line with their body overgrowth during the prolonged larval stage.
