Significant embryonic lethality is observed upon expression of HndsRNA.Sym.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32. However, later development is unaffected as adult eclosion levels are unchanged.
Knockdown of Hn in the larval fat body and haemocytes through expression of HndsRNA.Sym.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA results in a significant increase in locomotion relative to controls, at both the first and second days of the third-instar larval stage. Mouth hook contractions are significantly increased in these larvae. No changes in white prepupal heart rate are found.
