The rate of proliferation in trypsin-dissociated posterior wing disc cells expressing E2fPIP-3A-Rb.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E is increased, with a smaller proportion of cells having a G1 DNA content compared to controls.
Expression of E2fPIP-3A-Rb.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E induces some apoptosis in the posterior compartment of intact third instar larval wing discs, although the levels are less than when E2fPIP-3A.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP is expressed. A similar increase in apoptosis is seen when the wing disc cells are trypsin-dissociated and quantified using flow cytometry.
A smaller proportion of trypsin-dissociated posterior compartment cells from third instar larval wing discs expressing E2fPIP-3A-Rb.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E are in S phase compared to controls, however the proportion of cells is significantly higher than in E2fRb.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP.
The cells posterior to the morphogenetic furrow in eye discs expressing E2fRb.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU display an increased amount of DNA damage and apoptosis compared with controls.
