Expression of Ten-aGE1914 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mz19 partially disrupts the intermingling of olfactory receptor neuron (ORN) axons expressing Or88a and VA1d projection neuron (PN) dendrites which is normally seen in wild type. In addition, the position of the Scer\GAL4Mz19-expressing PN dendrites is shifted compared to wild type (although this alone is not enough to cause the disruption of the normal ORN axon-PN dendrite connections).
Clonal expression (using MARCM) of Ten-aGE1914 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mz19 in VA1d/DC3 projection neurons, but not in DA1 PNs, causes mismatching of the PN dendrites with Or23a-expressing olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) and (to a lesser extent) with Or67d-expressing ORNs.
