Females expressing Rbp9Scer\UAS.P\T.cJa under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 initially lay eggs, but the number is limited and they soon stop laying. The egg chambers of newly eclosed females appear normal. However, by days 12-14, most of the egg chambers have disappeared except for the germarium region. Mitotically active cystocytes are barely detected in 7 day old ovaries. Highly branched fusomes are not observed in aged females, while spherical and somewhat branched fusomes are seen.
