      Approximately 30% of dying mid-stage egg chambers show defects in germline programmed cell death in homozygous, dream2/dream3 and dream2/Df(2R)nap9 females, having large intact nurse cell nuclei, but lacking follicle cells. In addition, a small proportion of the egg chambers have condensed nurse cell nuclei but lack follicle cells. 12% of stage 14 homozygous egg chambers have persistant nurse cell nuclei.
