Description

A modified orb2 genomic fragment has been inserted into the attP site present in orb2attP via phiC31-mediated recombination. The resulting allele consists of a mutant form of orb2 lacking the Q domain and tagged at the C-terminal end with GFP. A single mFRT11 site is present downstream of the orb2 coding sequence, and single attL and attR sites (generated during the recombination process) are also present.

Detailed Description

Homozygous orb2ΔQ.T:Avic\GFP male flies have almost no long term 24 hour memory when exposed to a courtship conditioning paradigm. Unlike wild type flies, males that experience futile courtship of mated and therefore unreceptive females fail to suppress their courtship towards other mated females. Short term 1 hour memory is comparable to wild type.
