      Males expressing eIF4E-3GL01177 under Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 or Scer\GAL4C587 control does not affect male fertility or testes development.

      Testes from males expressing eIF4E-3GL01177 under Scer\GAL4bam.T:Hsim\VP16 show abnormal chromosome segregation and cytokinesis during meiosis. Post-meiotic development and spermatid differentiation are also defective - needle-like nuclear bundles at the rostral end of the flagellar axoneme fail to compact and are instead distributed throughout the elongated spermatid cysts.
