      51% of Top217-5/Df(2L)Exel9043 animals survive to pupation.

      Polytene chromosomes of third instar Top217-5/Df(2L)Exel9043 larvae are fragile and have a diffuse DNA-banding pattern. This phenotype is particularly apparent in the male X chromosome, which has a "puffy" decondensed structure.
