Detailed Description

Expression of Hsap\AS3MTScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 in third-instar larvae exposed to 0.1mM inorganic arsenicals leads to the production of methylated arsenicals, with high levels of dimethylated arsenicals and somewhat lower levels of monomethylated arsenical species.

Flies induced to express Hsap\AS3MTScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 (through their foodlive for a significantly longer period (median lifetime) as compared with uninduced flies. The median lifetime is extended by 17%. No differences in developmental viability are found when this same genotype is exposed to a much lower concentration of inorganic arsenicals.

A significantly enhanced rate of loss of heterozygosity in wtsx1 heterozygotes is only seen when both Hsap\AS3MTScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 and the flies are exposed to inorganic arsenicals.
