      Homozygous clu169 mutant flies have prolonged larval development; the wandering third instar larvae only appear 10-14 years after egg laying. The adult clu169 mutant flies have a short lifespan of about 3-7 days and are flightless with severe locomotive defects. The brains of clu169 mutant third instar larvae are similar in size to wild type.
