72bp deletion that removes one of the hb protein-binding sites in the stripe 3+7 enhancer of eve. The deletion also removes half of a putative slp1 protein-binding site.

Region of the 72 bp deletion within the stripe 3+7 enhancer of eve that is miising in some populations. The sequenced strain contains only 62 of the 72 bases shown in Fig. 1B and the sequence in the region matches that found at a 51% frequency in a Costa Rican Population (Fig. 1B).
