Imprecise excision of the P{EP}lin-28EP915 progenitor insertion, resulting in a 13bp deletion upstream of the original insertion site. This produces a premature stop codon and is predicted to result in a protein which is 32 amino acid residues shorter than normal with 10 amino acids that are not part of the wild-type lin-28 protein sequence.
Inferred boundaries of 13 base pair deletion upstream of the insertion site resulting from the imprecise excision of P{EP}lin-28EP915.
Homozygous adults show significantly reduced spontaneous and stimulated locomotor activity compared to controls.
Homozygous females show a significantly reduced egg laying compared to controls. 78.1% of stage 7-10 egg chambers are abnormal, containing either more than the normal 15 nurse cells or showing degeneration. The additional nurse cell phenotype appears to be due to both egg chamber fusion and a mitotic defect (the number of nurse cells seen varies between 22 and 47 and egg chambers containing additional developing oocytes are seen).
