Pex32 mutants reared on standard cornmeal medium die before the wandering third instar larval stage. When Pex32 mutants are grown on grape juice plates, most mutants survive to pupal stage and some escaper adults are observed. These few adult escapers are severely disabled. They can not fly and die within several days.

Pex32 mutant larvae are smaller than age-matched controls.

Pex32 mutant lack peroxisomes. They are hypersensitive to starvation.
