Pex3² mutants reared on standard cornmeal medium die before the wandering third instar larval stage. When Pex3² mutants are grown on grape juice plates, most mutants survive to pupal stage and some escaper adults are observed. These few adult escapers are severely disabled. They can not fly and die within several days.

Pex3² mutant larvae are smaller than age-matched controls.

Pex3² mutant lack peroxisomes. They are hypersensitive to starvation.
