Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase curator based on reported amino acid change.
bor1520/bor1520 somatic clones of terminal tracheal cells are smaller and have reduced branch complexity in third instar larvae. While main branches appear normal-sized and are filled with gas, side branches are reduced in number and appear thin and whispy. Heterozygous neighboring stalk cells show a mild capacity for compensatory branching leading to a slight increase in the occurrence of two or more adherens junctions between the two cells, compared to one junction in wild-type controls.
denudedPC213 mutants exhibit selective tracheal terminal cell pruning. The first terminal branches appear largely normal, although sometimes thickened, but subsequent branches are absent or severely compromised: small, unbranched, and with a narrow bore tube.
