Cyp4e3dsRNA.Scer\UAS knockdown driven in Malpighian tubule principal cells using Scer\GAL4CapaR.1.5 (but not when driven in the fat body using Scer\GAL4c564) significantly reduces lifespan under permethrin (insecticide) dietary exposure in male and female flies compared to controls. Scer\GAL4CapaR.1.5>Cyp4e3dsRNA.Scer\UAS female flies have a significantly reduced lifespan under fenvalerate (insecticide) dietary exposure compared to controls. Scer\GAL4CapaR.1.5>Cyp4e3dsRNA.Scer\UAS male flies also have significantly reduced lifespan upon topical permethrin application.
Hydrogen peroxide levels in Malpighian tubes are significantly increased and peroxidase activity is significantly decreased (similar to wild type flies under permethrin dietary exposure) in Scer\GAL4CapaR.1.5>Cyp4e3dsRNA.Scer\UAS flies compared to controls.
