Around 30-40% of flies with expression of Hsap\SOD1G93A.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG driven by Scer\GAL4how-24B have a held up (vertically) wing phenotype and are flightless. Muscle fibers in Scer\GAL4how-24B>Hsap\SOD1G93A.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG flies show similar organization to controls (Scer\GAL4how-24B>Hsap\SOD1Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG), but mitochondria are impaired, and often mitochondria are elongated or swollen, with autophagosome-like features. Scer\GAL4how-24B>Hsap\SOD1G93A.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG flies (with or without upheld wings) show progressive deficits in climbing ability compared to controls; mutant flies (even more so those with upheld wings) have a shorter lifespan compared to controls.
