Expression of B52Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP controlled by the Scer\GAL4CY27 driver does not affect axon extension in embryonic dMP2 neurons.

Expression of B52Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in near complete lethality, with only a small number of adult survivors, which are exclusively female and exhibit significant necrosis in the eye. Third instar larvae expressing B52Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF exhibit disorganization and increased apoptosis in the eye disc posterior to the morphogenetic furrow, with disorganization of photoreceptor cells, and a severe reduction in the number of detectable cone cells; optic lobes in these larvae also exhibit increased apoptosis, defective photoreceptor axon projection, and lamina monopolar neurons in the medulla are undetectable, in contrast to controls.
