The expression of Gr28aScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr89a.2 leads to the following electrophysiological response changes of labellar sensilla to bitter tastants, as compared to controls: I-a sensilla display a significantly increased response to (-)-lobeline HCl; I-b sensilla display a novel and a significantly increased response to Saponin and Theophylline, respectively; S-a sensilla display significantly decreased responses to Aristolochic acid, Umbelliferone, Denatonium benzoate and Berberine chloride; these labellar sensilla types display no significant electrophysiological response changes to Rotenone, N,N-Diethyl-m-toluamide, Escin, Gossypol, Theobromine, Caffeine, Cucurbitacin I hydrate, D-(+)-sucrose octaacetate, Azadirachtin, Myricetin, Strychnine nitrate salt, Coumarin, Sparteine sulfate salt and Quinine.
Scer\GAL4Gr89a.2/Gr28aUAS.cDa is an enhancer of abnormal neurophysiology phenotype of Gr59cΔ
Scer\GAL4Gr89a.2/Gr28aUAS.cDa is an enhancer of intermediate labellar taste bristle phenotype of Gr59cΔ
The expression of Gr28aScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr89a.2 leads to Gr59cΔ homozygous labellar I-a sensilla displaying novel electrophysiological responses to Coumarin and Azadirachtin, significant enhancements of their novel responses to Caffeine, Umbelliferone and Theophylline, and significant increases in their responses to Saponin, Aristolochic acid and Strychnine nitrate salt.
