An 8kb genomic fragment encompassing the bcd transcription unit (including 5' and 3' regulatory regions sufficient to rescue bcd[-] embryos when they drive bcd expression), in which most of the bcd coding sequence has been replaced with sequence encoding a lacZ reporter.
