R565A
The R565A amino acid replacement has been introduced into the endogenous mre11 gene by ends-in gene targeting.
As a result of being exposed to ionizing radiation at a dosage of 30 or 40 Gy during third instar larval stage, mre11R565A homozygotes exhibit increased mortality and irradiation sensitivity compared to controls.
After 10 Gy ionizing radiation, mitosis is almost completely blocked in mre11R565A third instar larval wing and eye discs similar to controls.
